A significant share of the requests that reach our support team involve accounts taken over because of passwords that were also used on another site. In this post, we walk you through the two simple steps you need to take to protect your account.
1. Use your password only here
Choose a password of at least twelve characters that you don't use anywhere else for your server account. Rather than mixing letters, numbers, and symbols, stringing together four unrelated words is a method that is both strong and memorable. If you want to write your password down, use a password manager.
Team members will never ask you for your password. If anyone asks for your password in game, on Discord, or by email, report it right away with a support ticket.
2. Turn on two-factor authentication
Enable two-factor authentication from the security section of your profile page. Scan the on-screen code with the authenticator app on your phone and enter the six-digit code the app gives you. When setup is finished, save the recovery codes you're given in a safe place; if you lose your phone, you can get into your account with these codes. Players who complete this step get a small security badge on their profile.
